Why Helen Mirren Had Reservations About Smooching Harrison Ford

Renowned for his iconic roles, a chance to lock lips with Hollywood heartthrob Harrison Ford might sound like a dream come true for many.

However, veteran actress Helen Mirren had a different take on the matter.

In the 1986 film “The Mosquito Coast,” Ford and Mirren played an on-screen couple.

By that time, Ford had already made a name for himself through blockbuster franchises like “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones.”

Despite being hailed as a timeless heartthrob, Ford has often downplayed his looks, once humorously stating, “I never feel s**y.

I have a distant relationship with the mirror.”

Contrary to expectations, Mirren openly expressed her displeasure about kissing her co-star during the filming.

In a candid revelation years later, she admitted to not enjoying Ford’s kissing technique, claiming that it was a sentiment shared by other actresses who had worked with him.

This revelation came to light in a BBC interview where Mirren did not hold back in critiquing Ford’s skills, implying that his performance was lacking both on and off the screen.

Interestingly, Carrie Fisher’s memoir “The Princess Diarist” seemed to corroborate Mirren’s critique of Ford’s kissing abilities.

In the book, Fisher humorously likened Ford’s kisses to that of a fish but added a playful twist by mentioning the absence of the fishy smell and scales.

Despite the apparent awkwardness that could arise from Mirren’s comments, recent developments suggest that the two actors have moved past any lingering discomfort.

Both Ford and Mirren are set to star in the upcoming “Yellowstone” prequel, portraying a married couple named Jacob and Cara Dutton.

While it remains uncertain if their characters will share any intimate moments on screen, the possibility lingers given their history.

As the new series, now titled “1923,” gears up for its December release, fans are left wondering if Mirren has changed her opinion on Ford’s kissing style over the years.

Perhaps Ford has taken the feedback to heart and improved his technique, or maybe the on-screen chemistry between the two has evolved positively.

Regardless, the reunion in “1923” offers a chance for reconciliation and potentially a fresh perspective on their previous on-set dynamics.
