Prince Harry may be planning a solo trip back to the UK this Christmas, leaving Meghan Markle behind.
Over the past couple of years, Harry has made several brief visits to his homeland, and according to royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths, a Christmas reunion with his family isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
Griffiths, the editor-at-large for the Daily Mail, shared her thoughts during a recent segment on GB News.
She expressed her belief that Harry’s trips to the UK are likely to increase, hinting at a potential Christmas visit.
However, she firmly believes that Meghan won’t be joining him.
Instead, it’s suggested that they might spend the holiday in Portugal, with Harry making a quick trip back to see his family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently acquired a property in Portugal, following in the footsteps of Princess Eugenie.
This move signifies their growing ties to the Iberian country, making it a likely holiday destination for the couple.
Traditionally, the British Royal Family gathers at Sandringham in Norfolk to celebrate Christmas.
The last time Harry and Meghan were part of this gathering was back in 2018, highlighting the increasing distance between them and the rest of the royals over the years.
Reportedly, the Sussexes have not received an invitation to this year’s Sandringham festivities.
This absence of an invite further underscores their estrangement from the royal family, rendering any potential visit moot.
Richard Fitzwilliams, another royal expert, weighed in on the situation, suggesting that the thought of the Sussexes spending Christmas with the royal family could be quite daunting.
He pointed out that holiday gatherings can be stressful, and having Harry and Meghan present might complicate the mood significantly.
In 2019, the couple opted out of the Sandringham celebrations, later disclosing that they used that time for reflection regarding their future.
Just a few months later, in January 2020, they announced their decision to step back from royal duties, which marked a significant turning point in their lives.
Shortly thereafter, Harry and Meghan relocated to California, and since then, their relationships with the royal family have noticeably deteriorated.
Despite Harry’s several trips back to the UK, his interactions with King Charles have been sparse; their last meeting was in February, after which the King cited a busy schedule for his unavailability during subsequent visits.
Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, appears strained as well.
