Lena Headey Opens Up About Decision to Use Body Double in Game of Thrones Scene

The unforgettable “Walk of Shame” scene featuring Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones season 5 left a lasting impact on viewers.

Lena Headey’s portrayal of Cersei, known for her power-hungry and ruthless nature, took a vulnerable turn as she was forced to walk n^ked through King’s Landing streets.

While many found a newfound empathy for the character during this moment of humiliation, some viewers were more focused on whether Headey appeared n^de on screen.

It was revealed that the actress had opted to use a body double for the complete n^dty required in the scene.

Responding to criticisms from a segment of fans regarding her choice, Headey explained to Entertainment Weekly that she prioritizes emotional authenticity in her acting.

She stated, “Some people thought I was less of an actress because I didn’t get my tits out.

You know what?

It was really a bit shocking.”

Headey further elaborated on her approach to the scene, emphasizing her dedication to portraying Cersei’s emotional journey realistically.

She shared, “I allow myself to be really vulnerable…

I did what I thought she would do, emotionally.

And wonderful Rebecca [Van Cleave, Headey’s stand-in] was able to contain herself and be n^ked.”

The actress acknowledged the challenges of filming such a scene and the impact it had on her personally, especially considering her role as a mother.

Despite facing criticism, Headey emphasized that she was fully present during the filming alongside her body double.

Looking ahead to Game of Thrones season 6, Headey teased that Cersei’s character will undergo significant development.

She described the upcoming season as the most intriguing for Cersei, highlighting her character’s shift towards self-preservation and a desire for power.

Headey also hinted at the complexities of Cersei’s relationships, particularly with Jaime Lannister, emphasizing the emotional turmoil her character will face.
