Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have shown their unwavering support for Prince William and Kate Middleton, publicly and privately, in light of Kate’s recent cancer announcement.
Reports reveal that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reached out to the Prince and Princess of Wales following Kate’s diagnosis of cancer.
In a statement provided to PEOPLE, Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, expressed their heartfelt wishes for Kate’s recovery and well-being, emphasizing the importance of privacy and peace during this challenging time.
The last public interaction between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge occurred in September 2022, during an unexpected encounter in Windsor after the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
During their stay in Europe for charitable commitments, Prince Harry and Meghan decided to extend their visit in response to Queen Elizabeth’s demise.
The couple temporarily relocated from California, where they have resided with their children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020.
Following Princess Kate’s announcement of her cancer diagnosis through a video message on social media, Meghan and Harry promptly offered their support.
In her video, Kate shared the news of her cancer discovery after undergoing abdominal surgery earlier in the year, revealing that she is now in the early stages of treatment.
Amidst the family’s current situation, the three children of Prince William and Kate, namely Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, are on a break from their private prep school, Lambrook School.
This pause in their academic routine allows for some valuable family time post-Kate’s health disclosure.
Before the public revelation of Princess Kate’s health update, insiders disclosed that Prince Harry and Meghan were not informed about the details of Kate’s surgery and recovery process, highlighting a lack of communication between the two couples.
Although Prince Harry made a trip from California to the U.K. in February upon King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, there were no scheduled meetings between him and Prince William or Kate during his brief visit.
Speculations arose regarding the strained relationship between the couples, further supported by a royal source confirming the absence of plans for a reunion between the brothers during Harry’s visit.
