Lisa Marie Presley’s Tragic Death Linked to Bariatric Surgery Complications

The recent passing of Lisa Marie Presley at the age of 54 has been attributed to complications arising from bariatric surgery that the singer and heiress underwent several years ago, as authorities revealed on Thursday.

Authorities confirmed that her death on January 12 was a result of natural causes related to a small bowel obstruction, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.

Further insights into the circumstances surrounding Presley’s demise were disclosed in an autopsy report made public later that day.

The report highlighted that the complication she faced is a commonly associated risk following bariatric surgery, a procedure often opted for when conventional weight loss methods prove ineffective or in cases of serious medical conditions.

Presley, who had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after paramedics responded to a cardiac arrest 911 call from her residence, passed away without prior public disclosure of the underlying medical issue.

Prior to her demise, she had reported experiencing stomach discomfort earlier in the day, as indicated by the autopsy report.

A funeral service for Presley was held on January 22 at Graceland, the iconic former residence of her father, Elvis Presley.

The estate, now a museum and pilgrimage site for Elvis enthusiasts, holds sentimental value for her as it was once her childhood home.

Left behind are her three daughters, namely 34-year-old Riley Keough, known for her role in “Daisy Jones & the Six,” and 15-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood.

Tragically, her son Benjamin Keough passed away in 2020.

In the aftermath of her untimely death, there arose the potential for a legal dispute over Presley’s estate.

Shortly after her funeral, her mother Priscilla Presley contested a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie Presley’s trust that excluded her and a former business manager as trustees, appointing instead her two eldest children.

However, Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough, who now serves as the sole trustee, reached a settlement agreement in May, thus averting a prolonged legal battle.

On a more positive note, Riley Keough received her first Emmy nomination on Wednesday for her stellar performance in “Daisy Jones & the Six,”
