Mackenzie Phillips Reveals Decade-Long Consensual Relationship with Father

In a shocking revelation, Mackenzie Phillips, the former child-star known for her troubled past involving substance abuse and legal issues, disclosed today that she was involved in a consensual s**ual relationship with her father, renowned rock star John Phillips, for a period of 10 years.

At 49 years old, Phillips, who gained fame from the popular ’70s-’80s sitcom “One Day at a Time,” made this startling confession during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

She recounted that the inappropriate relationship commenced when she was 18, claiming that she was initially raped by her father in a hotel room while she was unconscious after indulging in drugs.

Despite this traumatic incident, she continued to engage in drug use and consensual intercourse with him over the following years.

The disturbing relationship persisted even after she tied the knot with Jeff Sessler at the young age of 19.

It was not until she became pregnant and harbored concerns about her father possibly being the father of her child that Phillips decided to put an end to the illicit affair.

She revealed that her father, John Phillips, funded an abortion for her during that tumultuous period.

During her appearance on Winfrey’s show, Phillips read an excerpt from her newly released book, “High on Arrival,” wherein she described waking up from a blackout one night to find herself engaged in a s**ual encounter with her own father.

She expressed bewilderment about how the situation transpired, emphasizing the deep psychological impact it had on her.

Recalling the incident of being raped by her father, who was the lead vocalist of the Mamas and the Papas, in a hotel room back in the late 1970s, Phillips conveyed the immense emotional turmoil she felt upon realizing the grotesque reality of her situation.

She admitted to suppressing these distressing memories for decades, employing compartmentalization as a coping mechanism to evade confronting the trauma.

In response to these revelations, Michelle Phillips, Mackenzie’s stepmother and a former member of the iconic ’60s group the Mamas and the Papas, voiced skepticism about the veracity of the accusations.

Michelle attributed Mackenzie’s behavior to persistent mental health struggles and enduring substance abuse issues, suggesting that jealousy towards her accomplished siblings played a role in her disclosures.

Mackenzie Phillips disclosed that she had confronted her father regarding the assault, only to be met with a disturbing twist as he tried to reframe their relationship as romantic rather than acknowledging the abuse.

Recounting the conversation where she confronted her father about the rape, Mackenzie shared her father’s chilling response, highlighting her sense of isolation and abandonment in that poignant moment.

Following her dismissal from “One Day at a Time” due to her uncontrollable drug dependency in 1980, Phillips embarked on a journey with her father’s new musical ensemble, the New Mamas and the Papas.

It was during this turbulent period that she descended further into drug addiction and continued the pattern of engaging in intimate encounters with her father, painting
