In the latest Hollywood tale of love across generations, Nicole Kidman, 56, takes the spotlight alongside Zac Efron, 36, in the upcoming Netflix rom-com “A Family Affair.”
The much-anticipated first trailer, unveiled on Wednesday, reveals sizzling chemistry between the two stars as they navigate a tangled web of relationships.
The plot revolves around Zara (played by Joey King, 24), who resigns from her job as an assistant to the self-absorbed and challenging movie star Chris Cole (Efron), whom she openly dislikes.
Tensions escalate when an unexpected affair ensues between Chris and Zara’s mother, Brooke (portrayed by Kidman).
In a dramatic scene from the trailer, Zara is taken aback to find Chris and her mother entwined in bed together.
Shocked, she attempts to shield her eyes before awkwardly bumping into the doorframe.
Throughout the preview, viewers are treated to intimate moments between Chris and Brooke, with Chris expressing his longing for her by saying, “I’ve been waiting for you forever.”
“A Family Affair” aligns with the current trend of on-screen romances featuring older women and younger men, following other recent productions such as “May December,” starring Julianne Moore, 63, and Charles Melton, 33, as well as Prime Video’s “The Idea of You,” where Anne Hathaway, 41, embarks on a relationship with a 24-year-old musician (played by Nicholas Galitzine, 29).
The film also marks a reunion for Kidman and Efron, who previously shared the screen in 2012’s “The Paperboy.”
