Alec Baldwin Arrested Following Altercation Over Manhattan Parking Space

Actor Alec Baldwin was apprehended in Manhattan on Friday and is now facing misdemeanor assault charges, according to law enforcement sources.

The arrest stemmed from an incident where Baldwin allegedly punched someone during a dispute over a parking spot.

The altercation took place in Greenwich Village, as per reports from law enforcement sources.

The New York Police Department confirmed that Baldwin will be charged with third-degree assault, categorized as a misdemeanor, along with harassment.

If found guilty, the assault charge could lead to a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Sources indicated that Baldwin made physical contact with the victim by striking him on the left side of his face after a parking spot dispute on E. 10th Street.

The victim, aged 49, complained of pain and was subsequently taken to Lenox Hill Hospital for assessment.

After being processed, Baldwin returned home without addressing reporters waiting outside the police precinct house.

However, via Twitter later that day, he refuted claims of punching anyone over the parking spot, criticizing the dissemination of negative information for sensational headlines.

Denying the allegations, Baldwin expressed his frustration at how false narratives are created merely for clickbait purposes, emphasizing that repeated falsehoods do not alter the truth.

The actor, aged 60, has enjoyed a career resurgence in recent years due to his satirical portrayal of President Trump on “Saturday Night Live.”

In response to the news of Baldwin’s arrest, President Trump commented, “I wish him luck,” when questioned by White House journalists.

This incident adds to Baldwin’s history of encounters with the law, which includes a 2014 disorderly conduct arrest and a past acquittal in a battery case involving a photographer during the 1990s.

Baldwin, who shares four children under the age of 5 with his current wife Hilaria, also has an adult daughter from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.

His daughter Ireland has previously defended his actions on social media, attributing his behavior to managing anger issues.

Please note: An earlier version of the story incorrectly stated that the alleged assault occurred in the West Village.
