Alyssa Milano’s Revelation: Two Abortions in 1993 Were ‘My Choice’

Actress Alyssa Milano is shedding light on her personal encounters with abortion, denouncing restrictive laws that she views as an “assault against women’s bodies.”

At the age of 46, Milano disclosed that she underwent two abortions during her early twenties.

She shared this revelation on the most recent episode of her podcast “Sorry Not Sorry,” where she delves into various social, political, and cultural issues.

Reflecting on her past, Milano recalled the year 1993 when she found herself in love for the first time, experiencing the intense and all-consuming emotions that come with youthful love.

Despite the profound joy and excitement that filled her life during that period, she faced a challenging decision.

While Milano did not disclose the identity of her partner at the time, it is worth noting that she was briefly engaged to Scott Wolf, her co-star from “Double Dragon,” in 1993.

During that period, Milano was taking birth control as she focused on her career and felt unprepared for parenthood.

However, despite these precautions, she unexpectedly became pregnant.

The news was devastating for Milano, particularly due to her Catholic upbringing which led to a conflict with her faith.

Additionally, she was grappling with anxiety issues and had been taking Accutane, a controversial acne medication known to cause birth defects in pregnancies.

Ultimately, Milano made the difficult decision to terminate her pregnancy as she believed she was not ready to become a mother.

Emphasizing that it was her choice to have an abortion, she stated that it was the right decision for her despite the emotional turmoil it brought.

Following the first abortion, Milano discovered a few months later that she was pregnant again.

Once more, she opted to terminate the pregnancy, confident that it was the best course of action for her circumstances.

Contemplating the implications of anti-abortion laws, Milano acknowledged how different her life would have been without access to safe and legal abortions.

She expressed gratitude for her two children, Milo and Elizabella, and highlighted the impact they have had on her life.

Furthermore, Milano underscored the importance of reproductive rights, emphasizing the need to fight against oppression and secure freedom for individuals.

As a staunch advocate for women’s rights and a prominent figure in the #MeToo movement, she has been vocal about her stance on various societal issues.

In a bold move earlier this year, Milano called for a s** strike to protest anti-abortion laws in Georgia and Alabama, garnering significant attention and sparking discussions on women’s rights.

Her unwavering commitment to championing women’s causes reflects her belief in the power of activism and collective action to bring about positive change in society.
