Angie Dickinson Reveals Close Relationship with Frank Sinatra

Legendary actress Angie Dickinson disclosed in an interview with Mo Rocca for “CBS Sunday Morning” that she was on the brink of marrying iconic singer Frank Sinatra, following their collaboration in the 1960 movie “Ocean’s 11.” The pair, both renowned figures in the entertainment industry, reportedly engaged in a fervent romance.

During the interview, the 87-year-old star mentioned that in 1964, she and Sinatra almost exchanged vows.

Dickinson candidly shared that although she had no desire to marry Sinatra, she refrained from expressing her reluctance to spare him the discomfort of rejection.

Eventually, she tied the knot with composer Burt Bacharach in 1965, a marriage that endured until 1981.

Tragically, their daughter, Lea Nikki Bacharach, passed away at the age of 40 in 2007.

Reflecting on her relationship with Bacharach, Dickinson remarked that he did not love her in the conventional sense, emphasizing his lack of respect towards her.

Despite this, she acknowledged having positive feelings towards him.

This is not the first time Dickinson has opened up about her connection with Sinatra.

In an event at the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival in Hollywood in 2015, she revealed details about their tumultuous romantic involvement that spanned two decades, characterized by intermittent periods of intimacy.

Recalling their initial encounter in 1953, Dickinson recounted being summoned to Sinatra’s dressing room by his bodyguard during an appearance on the “Colgate Comedy Hour.” Sinatra’s charisma and enchanting voice left a lasting impression on her, describing him as one of the most charismatic individuals she had ever encountered.

Dickinson also delved into her experiences with other notable co-stars, such as Richard Burton and Marlon Brando.

She highlighted Burton’s intense relationships and Brando’s unconventional approach to discussing intimate matters, shedding light on the complexities of interactions within the entertainment industry.

Despite the challenges she faced, Dickinson carved out her own identity as a prominent figure in Hollywood.

She reflected on the evolving landscape of filmmaking, particularly regarding n^de scenes, expressing her discomfort with such portrayals while recognizing the shifting norms of the industry during her career.

Dickinson’s journey in the entertainment world reflects a blend of personal growth and professional resilience, showcasing her enduring legacy as a celebrated actress.
