Elvis and Priscilla Presley: A Love Story Told in Their Own Words

Priscilla Presley recently opened up about why she never remarried after her divorce from Elvis Presley.

The iconic couple first met in 1959 and were married for six years from 1967 to 1973.

During a Q&A event in Las Vegas, Priscilla explained that she never wanted to marry again while Elvis was still alive because she didn’t think he could handle it.

She said, “To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him.

I never had any desire.

No one could ever match him.”

Their love story has now been brought to the big screen in two separate films.

The first is the 2022 biopic “Elvis,” directed by Baz Luhrmann, which explores the rock ‘n’ roll legend’s life and relationships.

Austin Butler portrayed Elvis, while Olivia DeJonge played Priscilla.

The second film, “Priscilla,” directed by Sofia Coppola, focuses on how their marriage shaped Priscilla’s life.

Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla, with Jacob Elordi taking on the role of Elvis.

“Priscilla” is currently playing in theaters.

Elordi spoke about his experience watching the film with Priscilla herself at the Venice Film Festival.

He described it as surreal and invasive, watching her watch her life played back to her.

Forty-five years after Elvis’ death in 1977, their love story continues to captivate audiences.

Priscilla describes their romance as a good life, different but uniquely theirs.

Let’s take a closer look at the timeline of Elvis and Priscilla’s relationship in their own words.

Priscilla and Elvis first crossed paths in 1959 when she was in high school.

She had heard his music and was captivated by his voice.

They officially met at a party in West Germany, where Priscilla’s stepfather was stationed in the Air Force and Elvis was serving in the Army.

At the time, Priscilla was just 14 years old, while Elvis was 24.

She recalls him referring to her as a baby when he found out she was in ninth grade.

Their relationship blossomed, and Priscilla found herself deeply involved with Elvis.

This affected her school life as her focus shifted entirely to him.

Elvis had a specific image of the “right” girl, and Priscilla fit that description perfectly.

He wanted to mold her to his preferences, not only in appearance but also in her opinions and choices.

Priscilla’s parents initially had concerns about their relationship but eventually became supportive.

Her father asked Elvis why he chose her daughter, to which he replied that he was fond of her and believed she was more mature than her age.

In 1960, Elvis returned to the United States, leaving Priscilla behind.

However, they continued their relationship through phone calls, and three years later, Priscilla moved to Memphis to be closer to him.

They finally tied the knot in 1967 in Las Vegas.

The wedding was encouraged by Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’s talent manager.
