While she has spoken about her struggles previously, in a recent interview with BBC One’s Sunday Morning, Clarke delved deeper into her battle for survival, highlighting that certain sections of her brain are now non-operational.
During the program, she expressed, “It’s quite surprising that I can still communicate, sometimes eloquently, and lead a completely normal life without any consequences.”
Remarkably, she pointed out that surviving this type of aneurysm is exceedingly rare.
“I belong to the extremely tiny minority of individuals who can endure such an ordeal,” she noted, emphasizing that her brain scans exhibit reduced brain functions.
She humorously added, “There’s quite a bit missing!
It always amuses me because in the case of strokes, the moment a part of your brain loses blood supply, it’s lost forever.
The blood then seeks alternative pathways, but whatever region it fails to reach is permanently affected.”
In her written piece for The New Yorker, as the Game of Thrones series reached its conclusion, Clarke recounted her experience with the challenging process amid a hectic filming schedule.
She recalled the moment when she was informed about undergoing brain surgery and how surreal it felt given her young age and busy lifestyle.
Reflecting on that time, she shared, “I recall being asked to sign a consent form for surgery.

Amidst my bustling life, I couldn’t fathom making time for it.
Eventually, I calmed down and signed the form.
Subsequently, I drifted into unconsciousness.
For the next three hours, surgeons diligently worked on fixing my brain.
This marked the beginning of multiple surgeries, but it wasn’t the most severe.
I was merely twenty-four years old.”
Following the publication of her essay, fans rallied to support SameYou, a charity initiated by Clarke to aid individuals recuperating from strokes and brain injuries.
Within just forty-eight hours, the fundraiser amassed over $25,000.
Expressing her gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram video, the actress acknowledged the overwhelming generosity of her supporters.
