Intimate Revelations: Elliot Page Discloses Relationship with Juno Co-Star Olivia Thirlby During Filming

Elliot Page, aged 36, is sharing personal details in his latest memoir, Pageboy.

Within the pages of his new book, which is currently available, the actor unveils that he and his fellow Juno star, Olivia Thirlby, engaged in a romantic relationship during the filming of the acclaimed movie that won an Oscar in 2007.

Page discloses that while working on Juno in Vancouver, he had to share a hotel room with his mother, adding complexity to his budding connection with Thirlby, whom he describes as the first woman he had a consensual relationship with.

Reflecting on his initial encounter with Olivia Thirlby, Page recounts in his memoir, “I was immediately captivated by Olivia Thirlby.

Confident and mature, she exuded an aura of self-assurance as her long brown hair cascaded gracefully.

Despite us being the same age, she appeared much more mature, grounded, and s**ually liberated compared to where I stood at that time.

Yet, the undeniable chemistry between us drew me in.”

In Juno, Page portrayed the lead role of pregnant teenager Juno MacGuff, while Thirlby depicted Juno’s best friend, Leah.

Their on-screen bond blossomed into a real-life romantic involvement when Thirlby expressed her attraction towards Page, to which he reciprocated.

This mutual admission led to them sharing intimate moments both on and off set, as Page recalls, “Our attraction ignited into an all-consuming desire, sparking a newfound hope within me.

Our physical relationship unfolded discreetly in various settings, from her hotel room to our work trailers and even in a secluded corner of a restaurant.”

Page candidly reflects on the secrecy surrounding their relationship, acknowledging uncertainty about whether his mother suspected anything about his connection with Thirlby.

Despite maintaining a facade of mere friendship in front of his mother, Page confesses, “Although Olivia and I appeared as fast companions, I concealed the true nature of our bond.

Olivia visited my suite on only one occasion.”

The experience of working on Juno alongside Thirlby left a lasting impact on Page, rejuvenating his spirit and fortifying his resolve, as he muses, “The process of creating Juno and encountering Thirlby revitalized me, igniting a newfound sense of strength within me.

Bid farewell amidst a curling rink, a quintessentially Canadian wrap party, I departed with a heavy heart.”

Thirlby later publicly came out as bisexual in 2011 and subsequently tied the knot with Jacques Pienaar in 2014.

Page, who disclosed his identity as a trans man in 2020 after being assigned female at birth, previously shared details about his past romantic involvement with Kate Mara, despite her being in a relationship with Max Minghella at the time.

Reflecting on his enduring bond with Mara, Page expresses, “Kate Mara and I share a unique and enduring connection.

Our relationship transcends the intimacy I write about in my memoir.”

As Page prepares to promote Pageboy, he mentions that Mara has read his book and will be joining him at an event in Los Angeles in June.

The depth of care and affection they hold for each other remains distinct from the intimate revelations documented in Page’s memoir.
