New revelations have emerged from the ongoing Amber Heard and Johnny Depp defamation case, shedding light on Jason Momoa’s purported conduct during the filming of Aquaman.
Recent court documents disclosed and acquired by Variety reveal that Heard, 37, characterized her co-star as inebriated and frequently tardy on set, as documented by clinical psychologist Dr.
Dawn Hughes, enlisted by Heard’s legal team for testimony.
Hughes’ records indicate that Heard alleged Momoa, 44, appeared on the set of the DC Studios superhero movie mimicking her ex-husband Depp, adorned with “all the rings.”
In response to these claims, DC Studios stated to PEOPLE that Jason Momoa maintained professionalism throughout the production of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, expressing anticipation for the film’s release in December.
The legal dispute between Depp, 60, and his former spouse began in Virginia last year, with Depp suing Heard for defamation following her abuse allegations in a 2018 op-ed.
The litigation culminated in a settlement where Depp received $1 million after winning three claims, and Heard succeeded in one out of three counterclaims.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Heard testified about the diminished scope of her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman sequel due to heightened public scrutiny on her personal life.
Director James Wan recently clarified that her character was never intended to have a significant presence in the sequel.
Heard revealed, “I fought really hard to stay in the movie,” emphasizing alterations made to the script that reduced her character’s involvement.
Allegations of a lack of chemistry between Heard and Momoa were also raised by DC Films producers, independent of the defamation trial’s outcome.
Notably, talent agent Jessica Kovacevic testified that Heard’s televised trial adversely influenced her career trajectory.
Further notes from Hughes suggest tension between Heard and Wan on the set of Lost Kingdom, with Heard claiming Momoa advocated for her dismissal from the project.
Variety reported that Elon Musk, a former partner of Heard, issued a stern warning to Warner Bros. through legal representatives, threatening severe repercussions if Heard was axed from the sequel.
Heard’s forthcoming role in the film “In the Fire,” set to premiere on Oct. 13, marks her return to the big screen.
Director Conor Allyn commended Heard’s current state of contentment in Spain alongside her daughter, following relocation post-trial due to safety concerns.
Having faced death threats during the protracted legal battle, Heard sought solace in Spain with her two-year-old daughter, evading the tumultuous environment in the U.S., as recounted by a reliable source.
