Jason Momoa’s Financial Struggles After Game of Thrones Role

Following his appearance on the hit series Game of Thrones, Momoa faced significant financial difficulties which made it hard for him to manage expenses for his family in their Los Angeles home.

He resides there with his wife Lisa Bonet and their two kids, Lola Iolani, 13, and Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, 11.

While his fellow actors from Game of Thrones found success on the show, Momoa revealed that he encountered a tough time after his character, Khal Drogo, was written off the series during the first season’s finale in 2011.

Recalling those days, he expressed, “I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones.

I couldn’t get work.

It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.”

During a break in filming the series in May 2019, Momoa shared an anecdote of being too financially strained to fly back home.

Instead, he and a friend rented a panel van in Belfast and embarked on a journey across Ireland in search of the perfect pint of Guinness.

Momoa’s fortunes took a positive turn when he landed the role of Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice several years later.

This opportunity paved the way for him to star in Justice League in 2017 and Aquaman in 2018.

Additionally, he lent his voice to the superhero character in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part in 2019.

Reflecting on his current successful career, Momoa expressed his astonishment at seeing his name alongside renowned actors like Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem in the Dune trailer.

He still feels like a child, overwhelmed by the journey and accomplishments.

In the interview, Momoa delved into his experiences as a parent.

Growing up without a father figure, he admitted to lacking insights on fatherhood.

Determined to build a strong connection with his son, he emphasized the significance of fostering vulnerability and openness in their relationship.

Acknowledging the duality within individuals, Momoa highlighted the importance of embracing both feminine and masculine traits.

Despite his warrior spirit, he acknowledged his imperfections and expressed a desire to address and rectify them.
