Lea Seydoux Opens Up About Feeling Uncomfortable During ‘Blue Is The Warmest Color’ Filming

Lea Seydoux, famous for her role in “Blue Is The Warmest Color,” recently disclosed to The Independent that shooting the controversial romance’s pivotal s** scene left her with feelings of being “like a prostitute.”

During an interview with Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos, both stars discussed director Abdellatif Kechiche’s unconventional production techniques for the new l=sbian love story.

Reflecting on the film’s intense s** scene, Seydoux expressed, “At times, it was somewhat degrading, as I felt akin to a prostitute.”

The actresses had previously revealed that the scene required a staggering 10 days to shoot.

Seydoux further added, “It was a challenging process, especially when you’re tasked with simulating pleasure for extended periods.

Expressing emotions is more demanding for me than showcasing my physicality.”

In a similar vein, Seydoux and Exarchopoulos shared their thoughts on the controversial scene during an interview with The Daily Beast last September.

Exarchopoulos remarked, “While on set, I realized that the director demanded our complete dedication.”

She continued, “Many individuals wouldn’t even consider asking for such demands, opting instead for a more respectful approach.

Typically, during intimate scenes, there is guidance and choreography, which diminishes the s**ual aspect.”

During the recent interview with The Independent, Seydoux explicitly stated that she drew a line at one particular s**ual act that she refused to perform on screen.

Notably, Kechiche did not take kindly to the actresses’ remarks, especially those made by Seydoux.

Expressing his discontent during a press event for “Blue Is The Warmest Color,” Kechiche criticized, “How inappropriate it is to speak of distress while engaging in one of the most coveted professions.”

He contended, “Healthcare workers endure hardships, the unemployed struggle, construction laborers could recount tales of suffering.

How can one speak of adversity when they are adored, walking the red carpet, and receiving accolades?”

The director also voiced his dissatisfaction with the aftermath of the film’s release, suggesting that the controversy tarnished the entire experience, including the movie’s prestigious Palme d’Or victory at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Kechiche lamented, “I believe this film should have never been released, it became tainted beyond repair.”

He continued, “The Palme d’Or brought a fleeting moment of joy, followed swiftly by feelings of humiliation and disgrace.

It seemed as though I was cursed, facing rejection.”
