Liam Neeson’s Transformation for Film Role Revealed

Liam Neeson sparked concerns among his fans in July with his noticeably slim appearance, leading to speculations about his health status.

Despite initial worries, Neeson’s representative clarified that the 63-year-old actor is in excellent health and attributed his recent weight loss to his role in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie, “Silence.”

For his portrayal of Father Cristóvão Ferreira in the film, Neeson shed nearly 10 kilograms.

“Silence” narrates the journey of two Jesuit priests from Portugal traveling to Japan to propagate Christianity.

During the Los Cabos Film Festival in Mexico, Neeson disclosed, “Martin wanted us to appear somewhat emaciated, a directive that Adam and Andrew also followed.”

Adam Driver, a co-star in the movie, took the transformation to the extreme due to his military background as an ex-marine, demonstrating a strict adherence to instructions.

Neeson joins the league of acclaimed actors like Robert De Niro, who famously underwent a weight loss of about 30 kilograms for his award-winning performance in Scorsese’s “Raging Bull” in the 1980s.

“Silence,” adapted from Shusaku Endo’s novel depicting missionary activities during the 17th century, is scheduled for release in 2016.
