Lisa Marie Presley’s Death Linked to Weight-loss Surgery Complications

The passing of Lisa Marie Presley at the age of 54 has been attributed to complications arising from bariatric surgery she underwent several years ago, as confirmed by authorities.

Her death on January 12, daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, a singer and songwriter, has been determined to be a result of natural causes linked to a small bowel obstruction.

Further insights into the circumstances surrounding Presley’s demise were disclosed in an autopsy report published by the Los Angeles county medical examiner-coroner’s office on Thursday.

According to the report, the complication that led to Presley’s death is a typical occurrence following bariatric surgery, a procedure commonly used for weight loss.

The Mayo Clinic indicates that this surgery is often considered when conventional weight loss methods have proven ineffective or in cases where individuals are dealing with severe medical conditions.

Presley passed away at a hospital in Los Angeles after being rushed there by paramedics who responded to a 911 call reporting a woman in cardiac arrest at her residence.

Initially, there was no public disclosure regarding the underlying cause of the medical emergency.

The autopsy report mentioned that Presley had complained of stomach discomfort earlier on the day of her death.

A funeral service was held on January 22 at Graceland, the iconic residence where she spent her childhood with her father.

Today, Graceland stands as a museum, a popular tourist spot, and a cherished site for devotees of Elvis.

Lisa Marie Presley is survived by her three daughters: 34-year-old actress Riley Keough and 15-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood.

Tragically, her son, Benjamin Keough, passed away in 2020.

Following her demise, there was speculation about a potential legal battle over Presley’s estate.

Shortly after her funeral, her mother, Priscilla Presley, contested a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie Presley’s living trust that excluded Priscilla Presley and a former business manager as trustees, replacing them with her two elder children.

However, Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough, now serving as the sole trustee, reached
