‘: Macca’s wedding snub for friend of 50 years Cilla Black

Cilla Black Reveals Paul McCartney’s Wedding Snub After 50-Year Friendship

Despite sharing a friendship that has spanned over half a century, Cilla Black disclosed that she did not receive an invitation to Sir Paul McCartney’s third wedding.

The former Beatle tied the knot with American heiress Nancy Shevell in October, extending invites to celebrities such as fellow bandmate Ringo Starr, Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood, and model Kate Moss for the reception held at his residence in North West London.

Cilla Black, aged 68, who kickstarted her career at Liverpool’s Cavern Club around the same time as The Beatles, humorously expressed her exclusion by stating, “No.

I was NFI’d – not flipping invited!

I was away at the time actually, but it would have been nice to have been asked.”

During an event for children’s charity Variety in London, the flame-haired star mentioned that despite the wedding snub, she still remains on Sir Paul’s Christmas card list, with yearly exchanges of greetings.

However, she admitted to not sending any congratulatory message or gift to him following the oversight.

The probable reason behind her omission from the guest list could be attributed to the couple’s choice to keep the wedding affair low-key considering their substantial combined wealth of £700 million.

Opting for a modest ceremony at the Marylebone Register Office, where Sir Paul had previously tied the knot with Linda in 1969, they only invited close family members and a select few friends.

In contrast, Sir Paul’s previous extravagant wedding to Heather Mills in 2003, costing £1.5 million and hosting 300 guests at Castle Leslie in Ireland, stood in stark contrast to the recent understated affair.

Another plausible explanation could be a desire to avoid the candid opinions of straightforward individuals like Cilla Black.

Reflecting on Sir Paul’s past marriage to Mills, Black mentioned that she regretted not voicing her concerns regarding their union.

She indicated that while she typically offers advice to her friends, she refrained from doing so with Paul, stating that people must make their own mistakes to learn but acknowledging that he should have listened to his family’s counsel.
