When it comes to Hollywood stars, the pressure to slim down for movie roles is often a common expectation.
However, Margot Robbie took a stand and chose not to adhere to this norm while filming ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ in London due to a unique reason.
Having the opportunity to experience living in London fully for the first time, Robbie expressed her desire to explore every pub in the city.
In an interview with Australia’s TV Week, she shared her enthusiasm for the local pub scene, emphasizing her refusal to compromise her experience by dieting.
Despite knowing that her personal enjoyment might not suffice as a convincing argument for the film’s producers, the 26-year-old actress cleverly crafted a justification.
She highlighted that her character, Jane, belonging to the 19th century setting of the movie, would not have partaken in modern fitness routines.
In her own words, Robbie asserted, “It’s the 19th century [in the film] – if she’s got a bit of weight on her, it’s probably a good thing.”
She remained steadfast in her decision not to conform to unrealistic body standards merely for appearance’s sake.
Apart from indulging in London’s vibrant pub culture, Robbie also shared her fondness for a local nightclub, Infernos in Clapham, known for its notorious sticky floors.
Despite her celebrity status, she described the venue as a place where appearances do not matter, stating, “Everyone looks a mess.
By the time I make it to Infernos, I look so revolting that nobody’s going to look twice.”
In contrast, Robbie’s co-star Alexander Skarsgard had a contrasting experience due to his role as Tarzan, requiring him to maintain peak physical fitness throughout the film.
Skarsgard detailed the rigorous dietary restrictions he endured during filming, crediting the film’s chef for orchestrating a strict regimen devoid of sugar and dairy.
Reflecting on his post-filming indulgence, Skarsgard recounted a delightful reunion with his father, relishing in a week of hearty meals including bone marrow, fried mozzarella, pasta, and red wine that brought him immense joy and satisfaction.
