Margot Robbie’s Dedication to ‘I, Tonya’ Role Led to Neck Injury

Margot Robbie’s commitment to portraying Tonya Harding in the movie “I, Tonya” went above and beyond.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Robbie immersed herself in training for five months, dedicating four hours a day, five days a week to mastering ice skating, a sport she grew passionate about during the process.

The 27-year-old Australian actress expressed her initial fears, admitting, “I was honestly terrified that I wouldn’t be able to pull it off.”

Despite struggling with certain techniques just weeks before filming, Robbie persevered.

She recalled the breakthrough moment when she finally grasped the challenging outside edges of ice skating.

Robbie’s training regimen was intense, often spending extended periods on the ice under the guidance of choreographer Sarah Kawahara.

Reflecting on her experience, Robbie shared, “When you’re a kid, you’re fearless, but starting at 26 years old, I had a lot of fear.”

Unfortunately, her dedication came at a cost as she suffered a herniated disk in her neck early on, realizing the injury only after experiencing numbness in her arms a week into shooting.

Despite the setback, by the time principal photography commenced in Atlanta in January 2017, Robbie managed to flawlessly execute Harding’s routines.

The trailer for the film showcases Robbie’s remarkable transformation into the character, a testament to her relentless hard work and sacrifices.

On a different note, Kirk Herbstreit’s reaction to Ohio State’s playoff snub left viewers astonished as he abruptly left the set.

Meanwhile, Geno Smith didn’t hold back in criticizing Rex Ryan, branding him a ‘coward’ for his comments about Eli Manning.

Poker player Phil Hellmuth’s fiery outburst following a crushing defeat to Phil Ivey captivated audiences, highlighting the emotional rollercoaster of high-stakes games.
