Mark Ruffalo’s Uncomfortable Experience Filming Steamy Scenes with Emma Stone in New Racy Movie

Mark Ruffalo, known for his role in “Poor Things,” confessed to feeling uneasy during the filming of intimate scenes in the recently released x-rated movie.

The actor, portraying lawyer Duncan Winterburn, discloses that he faced several challenges that made him feel anxious while shooting these particular scenes.

Throughout the film, Ruffalo’s character seduces Emma Stone’s character, Bella Baxter, persuading her to leave her ordinary life behind and embark on a global adventure with him.

In one of the explicit scenes featuring the two stars, they engage in various positions within a hotel room.

However, a scene was deemed too explicit and required editing to adhere to UK regulations.

Audiences who have seen the movie have labeled it as more unsettling than Saltburn, another controversial film that premiered recently.

Nevertheless, Emma Stone received a Golden Globe award for her role in “Poor Things,” and the film has been well-received by critics.

Despite the positive reception, Ruffalo admits to grappling with uncertainties, especially during the more graphic sequences.

In an interview with Perfect Magazine, the 56-year-old actor expressed his concerns, questioning his ability to perform such scenes, given his age and whether there was an audience for it.

During an Actors on Actors segment with Variety, Ruffalo reiterated his initial doubts, pondering whether he should partake in such scenes at all.

In the storyline, Duncan intimately explores Bella’s ‘hairy business,’ as humorously referenced in the movie, as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, both s**ually and personally.

To aid in filming these intimate moments, Ruffalo disclosed that he required additional padding, sharing with Marvel colleague Robert Downey Jr. that he donned an ‘a** pad’ and increased the size of his leg muscles to suit the demands of the role.

Despite his initial reservations, Ruffalo eventually found a way to navigate through the steamy scenes, viewing them as an extension of the film’s physical comedy, which added a comedic element to storytelling.

Moreover, he mentioned wearing a corset and shoulder pads to achieve the desired silhouette envisioned by director Yorgos Lanthimos, who aimed for Ruffalo to resemble ‘a bird.’

Conversely, Emma Stone exhibited no qualms about appearing n^de on screen, with Lanthimos revealing her bold suggestions for certain x-rated scenes.

“Poor Things” is currently showing in theaters across the UK and Ireland, offering audiences a glimpse into this daring and provocative cinematic experience.
