Matthew McConaughey Reveals Dad’s Unusual Demise

In an exclusive preview from his upcoming book Greenlights, set for release on October 20, the actor shared details about his late father, James Donald McConaughey, and the unexpected circumstances of his death.

Recounting the moment he received the devastating news from his mother, McConaughey expressed his disbelief, recalling how his father had always humorously predicted his demise.

Reflecting on their history, he remarked, “Their interactions were intense.

The passing of McConaughey’s father occurred in 1992.

Earlier this year, McConaughey took it upon himself to play matchmaker for his mother, aiming to rekindle her romantic life by attempting to set her up with the elderly father of his co-star from The Gentleman, Hugh Grant.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actor shared his plans, saying, “Her suitor is 91, while my mom is 88.
