Meghan Markle’s Initial Discomfort After Marrying Prince Harry Revealed by Author

Following her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle reportedly felt uncomfortable being assigned Nottingham Cottage instead of residing in Kensington Palace.

Author Tom Quinn from the book “Scandals of the Royal Palaces” mentioned that the actress, now 42, felt like she was being pushed aside upon moving into the two-bedroom dwelling situated on the Kensington Palace grounds.

Quinn shared on the Mirror’s “Pod Save The Queen” podcast that Markle appeared to have been charmed by the royal family but was disappointed to discover that she would be living “in a little cottage” rather than a grand palace, stating, “I think that actually, she wasn’t too keen on that.

It seemed like they were being shunted off to a little prefab in the grounds.”

On the other hand, authors Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie of “Finding Freedom” contradicted this claim, asserting that the former “Suits” star was thrilled to share Nottingham Cottage with Harry after months of being apart.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially resided in Nottingham Cottage, a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth, before relocating to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

In 2020, the couple moved to Montecito, California, departing from their roles as senior royals.

In their Netflix series “Harry & Meghan,” Harry described Nottingham Cottage as having “lean” and “low ceilings,” while Meghan added that it felt “small,” despite being on palace grounds.

In contrast, Prince William and Kate Middleton stayed in the same residence for two years post their marriage in 2011 before shifting to Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace.

Married in 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Harry and Markle are now parents to Archie and Lilibet Diana, and are currently attending the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany.

During the recent “Friends @ Home Event,” the couple took the stage together, delivering a rare joint speech and expressing their pride in being part of the Invictus family.

Markle expressed her gratitude for the attendees and her excitement to kick off the event with them, while Harry acknowledged the different stages of healing experienced by the competitors and emphasized the importance of connecting with each other during the healing process.
