Michael Jordan’s Strategic Move: Yvette Prieto Signs Lucrative Prenup

Michael Jordan, a billionaire sports icon, has taken a cautious approach towards marriage following his costly divorce from his previous spouse.

The NBA legend is now married to the Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto and has ensured his financial security by having her sign an intricate prenuptial agreement.

The terms of Yvette Prieto’s prenup with Michael Jordan are designed to safeguard his assets in case of a separation.

They tied the knot on April 27, 2013, with the agreement stipulating that Prieto would receive $1 million for each year of their marriage, up to a maximum of 10 years.

Additionally, if their union surpasses the initial decade, she stands to gain an extra $5 million annually.

Despite the significant age gap between them, the couple appears content, with Prieto now $50 million richer as they marked their 10th anniversary in 2023.

This financial provision ensures that Prieto will be well-off even if their marital circumstances change in the future.

Yvette Prieto is not only immersed in Michael Jordan’s affluent lifestyle but also possesses her own substantial wealth amounting to $50 million.

While this sum may pale in comparison to Jordan’s $3 billion net worth, it secures Prieto’s financial future, especially considering the challenges of accumulating such wealth solely through her career as a model.

Michael Jordan’s decision to have Yvette Prieto sign a prenuptial agreement stems from the costly divorce settlement he paid to his former wife, Juanita Vanoy.

Their marriage, spanning from 1989 to 2006, ended with Vanoy receiving a staggering $168 million following their separation, making it one of the most significant divorce settlements in sports history.

Even though Michael Jordan was not yet a billionaire during his divorce from Vanoy, the substantial payout served as a wake-up call for him to protect his assets in subsequent marriages.

The couple shares three children from their time together—Jeffrey Michael Jordan, Marcus Jordan, and Jasmine Jordan, aged 35, 33, and 31 respectively.
