Morgan Freeman Disguises Paralyzed Hand at Oscars Decades After Tragic Incident

During the recent Oscars ceremony, iconic actor Morgan Freeman made a striking appearance with his left hand covered by a fashionable black glove.

The 85-year-old star concealed the effects of a paralyzed hand resulting from an accident that occurred many years ago.

Gracing the stage alongside actress Margot Robbie, Freeman sported a long glove on his injured hand as they commemorated Warner Bros.’ century milestone.

The event, which marked the 95th Academy Awards, saw the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” dominating the night by clinching seven prestigious awards.

The movie, featuring acclaimed actors Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis, triumphed in categories such as best picture and best original screenplay.

Freeman, a previous winner of the best supporting actor award in 2005 for his role in “Million Dollar Baby,” sustained the hand injury following a car crash in 2008.

The renowned “Shawshank Redemption” actor was involved in an accident in Mississippi, where his vehicle overturned multiple times, inflicting severe injuries to his hand.

Despite the challenges, Freeman’s resilience shone through as he maintained consciousness and even shared light moments with photographers at the accident scene.

Medical professionals had assured Freeman of a gradual recovery over three years, but the lasting nerve damage has been a persistent issue.

In a candid interview with Esquire magazine in 2020, Freeman disclosed the ongoing battle with fibromyalgia, describing the pain as ‘excruciating’ since the unfortunate incident.

Reflecting on his condition, Freeman revealed, “I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better.

I can’t move it.

But if I don’t move it, it will swell up.”

Since the harrowing event in 2008, Freeman has resorted to wearing compression gloves for over a decade to promote blood circulation in his impaired hand.

In a surprising turn of events, Freeman made a noteworthy appearance at the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup recently, garnering mixed reactions from spectators.

At the Oscars gala, his co-star from the 2019 film “The Poison Rose,” Brendan Fraser, achieved a significant milestone by clinching his first-ever best actor accolade for “The Whale,” alongside Sadie Sink from “Stranger Things.”
