Princess Sofia’s Journey: From Hate Storm to Royalty

Princess Sofia, who is currently expecting her third child, tied the knot with Prince Carl Philip, the fourth in line to the Swedish throne, five years ago.

However, her road to royalty was far from smooth.

The princess, formerly a glamour model and reality TV personality, faced severe criticism when her relationship with the prince went public.

Sofia revealed that the transition from being a celebrity to a royal figure was challenging, with online abuse directed at her.

Acknowledging the difficulties she faced, Sofia admitted that she would have made different choices if given the chance.

Her early career included modeling for a men’s magazine in a bikini with a live boa constrictor around her upper body, a move that led to her being crowned Miss Slitz in 2004.

The publication of these photos upon her relationship reveal brought further attention to her past.

Following her modeling success, Sofia ventured into reality TV by participating in the Swedish show “Paradise Hotel.”

This program, similar to popular series like Love Island, involved singles competing to find love on a tropical resort.

Sofia’s time on the show was marked by a feud with another contestant, Olinda Castielle, before ultimately reaching the final.

Reports also surfaced of her encounter with adult film star Jenna Jameson in Las Vegas during the show.

After her reality TV stint, Sofia pursued studies in New York, focusing on accounting and business development.

She later returned to Stockholm to delve into global ethics, child and youth science, children’s communication, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

To support herself during these endeavors, she worked part-time as a waitress and resumed modeling.

It was during this period that she crossed paths with Prince Carl Philip at a nightclub, leading to what they described as love at first sight.

Driven by her passion for human rights and influenced by her royal partner, Sofia delved into charitable initiatives.

In 2010, she founded the Sofia Hellqvist Project Playground, dedicated to aiding underprivileged children in South Africa.

Her commitment to philanthropy saw her attending various Swedish royal events, including Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill’s wedding in 2013.

The couple announced their engagement at a media event in June 2014, with Prince Carl expressing his newfound appreciation for love through Sofia.
