Royal Bombshell: Diana’s Emotional Quest for Queen’s Marriage Advice

As the world marks the 22nd anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing, a startling revelation has emerged from the documentary “Diana In Her Own Words.”

In this intimate portrayal, Princess Diana recounts seeking guidance from the Queen herself, whom she affectionately referred to as “the top lady,” regarding her marriage with Prince Charles.

The footage captures a visibly distraught Diana expressing her distress to the Queen, only to receive an unsatisfactory response.

She tearfully confided, “So I went to the top lady, sobbing, and I said what do I do?

I’m coming to you, what do I do?

And she said ‘I don’t know what you should do, Charles is hopeless.'”

The BBC acquired tapes intended for a film coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Diana’s tragic demise but later abandoned the project, deeming it unenlightening.

However, Channel 4’s documentary, “Diana: In Her Own Words,” showcases footage filmed by Peter Settelen, the speech coach who aided Diana in redefining her public image.

Produced by Charles Furneaux and directed by Kevin Sim, the documentary features recordings spanning from 1992 to 1993.

In a groundbreaking claim, it has come to light that Princess Diana turned to the Queen for counsel during her tumultuous marriage with Prince Charles.

Describing the Queen’s response as less than helpful, Diana expressed her disappointment with the interaction.

She recounted, “And that was it, and that was help.”

Moreover, Diana insinuated that the Queen exhibited a lack of support upon learning about Charles’s affair with Camilla.

The controversial tapes, initially discovered at Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell’s residence, were eventually sold by Settelen to NBC after a protracted legal battle.

NBC incorporated the footage into a 2004 documentary that never aired in the UK.

The Channel 4 documentary, “Diana: In Her Own Words,” offers a candid glimpse into Diana’s private life, featuring personal recordings made within her Kensington Palace abode.

Here, viewers witness Diana candidly discussing her marriage with Prince Charles and the challenges of living under public scrutiny.

During these heartfelt conversations, Diana revealed intimate details about her relationship with Charles, disclosing that he only desired intimacy once every three weeks and they met merely 13 times before their wedding.

Additionally, she confided in finding solace with her married police protection officer Barry Mannakee, emphasizing that their bond was not of a romantic nature.

Between 1992 and 1993, Diana enlisted the expertise of Peter Settelen to refine her public speaking skills, following her collaboration with biographer Andrew Morton.

The footage captures Diana rehearsing her oratory skills at Kensington Palace, with separate scenes showing her in a more relaxed setting, dressed in casual attire as she delves into personal matters.
