Salma Hayek Reveals Harvey Weinstein Threatened Her Life

Actress Salma Hayek has shared a chilling and intense narrative of her encounters with disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, recounting how he subjected her to s**ual advances and menacingly declared, “I will kill you, don’t think I can’t.”

In a recent piece for The New York Times titled “Harvey Weinstein Is My Monster Too,” Hayek disclosed the distressing incidents she faced while collaborating on her 2002 film, “Frida,” a project close to her heart depicting the life of renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

Despite initially agreeing to the movie deal, she soon found herself having to refuse Weinstein’s inappropriate demands.

Declining to open doors for him at odd hours in various locations, rejecting shower invitations, turning down massages, and refusing intimate encounters, Hayek stood firm against Weinstein’s persistent advances, leading him to resort to fits of anger when charm and persistence fell short.

Amid failed attempts to persuade her, Weinstein unleashed his wrath, threatening her life in a moment of rage by uttering the menacing words, “I will kill you, don’t think I can’t,” leaving Hayek shaken and fearful.

Hayek also detailed a traumatic experience where she was coerced into a n^de scene with another actress, causing her immense distress and physical reactions that culminated in a breakdown on set, highlighting the psychological toll of Weinstein’s manipulation and abuse.

Weinstein’s spokesperson, responding to Hayek’s allegations, vehemently denied the s**ual misconduct claims, asserting that the producer did not pressure her into any compromising situations and casting doubt on her recollection of events.

The revelations by Hayek add to the wave of accusations against Weinstein following exposés in major publications, uncovering a pattern of predatory behavior that has since triggered a seismic shift in how society confronts s**ual harassment and holds perpetrators accountable across various industries.

Reflecting on her decision to speak out now, Hayek admitted to self-delusion and avoidance, grappling with the aftermath of trauma and the complexities of revealing painful truths to loved ones while navigating a culture of silence and complicity.

Acknowledging the collective courage of survivors who have shared their stories, Hayek expressed gratitude for the growing solidarity and awareness surrounding issues of abuse and harassment, emphasizing the significance of breaking the silence and dismantling power dynamics that have enabled such misconduct to persist.

As part of a broader movement to challenge systemic abuse and empower voices long suppressed, Hayek’s account serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of speaking truth to power and advocating for accountability in the face of injustice.
