Salma Hayek’s Iconic Trance for ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ Striptease Performance

Salma Hayek reminisces about landing the role of a snake-dancing stripper vampire in the 1996 thriller “From Dusk Till Dawn,” written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez.

Despite securing the part, Hayek admits that her recollections of filming are hazy as she had to enter a trance-like state to overcome her intense fear of snakes.

During a recent Role Recall interview, Hayek shared how Tarantino informed her about the snake dance scene, causing immediate apprehension.

Pressured by Tarantino’s mention of Madonna’s interest in the role and her snake-friendly demeanor, Hayek found the courage to face her fear head-on.

The lack of choreography added to the challenge, as she had to improvise the entire dance due to the unpredictable nature of the snake’s movements.

Hayek’s involvement in the project stemmed from a favor she did for Rodriguez during the filming of the anthology movie “Four Rooms” in 1994.

Rodriguez, seeking a stripper for a scene, enlisted Hayek’s help with a simple request: to wear a bathing suit without revealing her face.

Little did she know that this impromptu performance would lead to a significant role in “From Dusk Till Dawn,” where her character’s dance was penned specifically by Tarantino for her portrayal.

In a lighthearted moment, Hayek disclosed an amusing exchange on set between her co-star George Clooney and Tarantino regarding her character’s selective gaze during the dance routine.

Clooney questioned why her character avoided making eye contact with others, to which Tarantino humorously responded, “Because I’m the writer.”

Fans can anticipate Hayek’s upcoming appearance in the film “How to Be a Latin Lover,” set to hit theaters on April 24.
