Salma Hayek’s Ongoing Journey: Overcoming the Shadows of Harvey Weinstein

Salma Hayek encountered unexpected emotional turmoil following Harvey Weinstein’s rape and s**ual assault convictions, despite believing she had already dealt with her past experiences with the disgraced film producer.

Hayek, who gained fame through the Weinstein-produced film “Frida” in 2003, had previously disclosed being s**ually harassed by Weinstein during the making of the biopic.

Following a New York jury’s decision to sentence Weinstein to 23 years in prison for criminal s**ual act and rape charges, Hayek, now 54, came to a realization that she still carried unresolved wounds from her encounters with the former Hollywood magnate.

In an interview with the U.K.’s Evening Standard while promoting her latest movie “Bliss,” Hayek shared her journey of understanding her unhealed pain.

She expressed, “The amazing thing is that I thought I had healed.

And then everything came out again and I realized I didn’t heal, I repressed and I coped, I adjusted, I went on, so there was a layer of healing because it didn’t stop me from growing.”

Acknowledging the depth of the impact on numerous women and herself, Hayek found solace in collective action against Weinstein, which she described as a healing process.

She mentioned, “It was very painful for a long time.

I didn’t know there were so many other women affected and that it went so deep.

It was very shocking.

But the fact that we [took action] together made it really healing.”

Despite the prolonged distress, she affirmed that she has now progressed and distanced herself from the haunting memories, signifying a personal triumph over adversity.
