Sheridan Smith’s Tattoo Regret Unveiled During ‘The Castaways’ Filming

During the filming of the TV series “The Castaways,” Sheridan Smith, the 42-year-old Bafta-award winning actress, revealed that she experienced deep regret over her tattoos and declared that she has no intentions of getting any more ink done.

Starring alongside Celine Buckens in the new Paramount+ thriller, Smith shared that she had to resort to using waterproof makeup to conceal the tattoos on her body.

In an interview with Radio Times for its Christmas edition, Smith expressed that embodying her character Lori in the series was an enjoyable experience.

She mentioned feeling comfortable without face makeup, embracing her natural freckles, but highlighted the challenge of covering up her tattoos, especially in the tropical island setting of the show.

Reflecting on the challenges she faced during filming, Smith disclosed, “Normally I can get away with cardigans or long-sleeve shirts, but wrecked on a tropical island… I had a call three hours before anyone else.”

She emphasized the struggle of having to use waterproof makeup to hide her tattoos, a task that required the assistance of three people daily.

Expressing her dismay over the situation, Smith admitted, “I never regretted my tats so much – I’ll never have another one.”

She advised fellow actors against getting tattoos, labeling it as a “ridiculous thing” based on her experience.

Delving into the daunting aspects of the role, Smith revealed, “I’m terrified of heights.

And spiders.

At one point (during filming) I lay on the ground – spiders, little scorpions, all sorts.”

She highlighted the challenging nature of the job that involved confronting her fears, from swimming in heights to dealing with insects in hot conditions.

In the original UK drama series inspired by Lucy Clarke’s bestselling novel, Smith stars alongside Buckens, who portrays her on-screen sister Erin.

The plot revolves around their characters planning to fly to Fiji, only for Erin to miss the flight, leaving Lori stranded as the plane fails to reach its destination.

With an extensive repertoire in both film and theater, Sheridan Smith is renowned for her roles in popular productions such as “Gavin And Stacey,” “The C Word,” and “The Railway Children.”

Her versatility as an actress has been showcased across various platforms, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
