Taylor Swift’s Father Cleared of Charges After Paparazzi Altercation

Australian police have confirmed that Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, will not face any charges following an incident with a photographer during a paparazzi encounter last month.

Despite the photographer’s complaint that he was attacked, authorities stated that no further action will be taken.

According to a statement from the police, an investigation was conducted after receiving a report of an assault, but after thorough examination, it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to pursue legal action in the case.

The altercation occurred on Feb. 26 when photographer Ben McDonald alleged that Scott Swift had physically confronted him as the Swift family disembarked from a yacht while Taylor was in Australia for her Eras Tour performances in Sydney and Melbourne.

McDonald claimed that he was obstructed from taking photos when an umbrella was thrust in his face, and then Scott Swift allegedly made a sudden advance towards him, as detailed in the Daily Mail’s account of the incident.

Authorities were alerted to the situation with reports of a confrontation between a 71-year-old man and a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf.

While the younger man reported the incident, no medical attention was required following the altercation.

In response to the allegations, a representative for Taylor Swift explained that the altercation arose when two individuals aggressively approached Taylor, interfering with her security team and even threatening harm to a female staff member.

The police clarified that they had received a call regarding the purported assault, prompting an inquiry by officers from the North Shore
