Back in 1973 at the renowned Julliard school in New York, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve secured two out of the 20 spots available for the freshman class despite fierce competition from 2000 applicants.
As fate would have it, they became roommates and developed an unbreakable bond during their time at Julliard.
During their shared experience at Julliard, they struck a special agreement that whoever achieved success first would always support the other.
Christopher Reeve later soared to fame as Superman, while Robin Williams carved his niche as a highly acclaimed comedian known for his exceptional wit.
Despite circulating rumors suggesting that Williams had generously contributed $2.7 million to cover Reeve’s medical expenses following his paralyzing accident in 1995, both actors debunked the claims in 1996.
However, Williams did acknowledge providing some assistance, such as purchasing a van and a generator for Reeve and his family to cope with the harsh winters in Connecticut where they lived.
Reeve revealed that the most precious gift Williams bestowed upon him was the gift of laughter during his darkest days post-accident.
Williams, known for his comedic prowess, visited Reeve in the hospital, lifting his spirits with his humorous antics and bringing much-needed joy into his life during a challenging period.

Their enduring friendship transcended beyond physical boundaries, with Williams fondly remembering Reeve during his acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in 2005.

Quoting Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet,’ Williams paid homage to his late friend, expressing his heartfelt sentiments, “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, sweet prince.”
