Three Men Convicted in the Murder of Rapper XXXTentacion

Three individuals have been found guilty by a jury for their involvement in the tragic shooting of rapper XXXTentacion, who was fatally shot in 2018 during an apparent robbery.

Identified as Dedrick Devonshay Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome, the trio faced charges of first-degree murder in connection to the death of the young rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy and who was only 20 years old at the time of his demise.

The unfortunate incident took place in Broward County, Florida, on June 18, 2018, as XXXTentacion was leaving a motorsports dealership in Deerfield Beach.

Two armed assailants approached him, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the fatal shooting during what authorities believe was a robbery attempt.

One of the suspected accomplices in the shooting, Trayvon Newsome, was visibly tense during the trial proceedings, as depicted by his demeanor in court awaiting the jury’s decision.

Alongside Newsome, Robert Allen had previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and provided testimony against the other defendants.

Following the arrest of Dedrick Devonshay Williams in 2018 on charges of first-degree murder, additional allegations of probation violation and driving without a valid license were also brought against him.

Surveillance footage presented by prosecutors offered a glimpse into the moments leading up to the tragic event, showing XXXTentacion inside his BMW when he was accosted by two individuals demanding his belongings, ultimately leading to a fatal confrontation.

Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome were pinpointed as the individuals who confronted XXXTentacion at his vehicle, with Boatwright being accused of firing the fatal shot that claimed the rapper’s life during the altercation.

The late rapper, known for his music under the name XXXTentacion, had achieved significant success in the music industry, with his album “?”

reaching the top spot in 2018 and his song “Sad!”

securing a place in the top 10 charts.

Despite his musical accomplishments, XXXTentacion was grappling with legal issues, including multiple felony charges and accusations of domestic violence, which he was awaiting trial for at the time of his untimely death.
