Arnold Schwarzenegger Seeks to End Maria Shriver’s Spousal Support Request in $400m Divorce

Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially responded to Maria Shriver’s divorce petition by requesting the court to dismiss her plea for spousal support.

Represented by his attorney, Bob Kaufman, Schwarzenegger has urged the judge to deny Shriver’s financial assistance request.

Shriver, in her initial filing, had requested spousal support as part of her petition.

However, Schwarzenegger’s legal documents indicate a firm stand against providing financial aid to his former wife.

Both parties, aged 63 and 55 respectively, are seeking joint custody of their two minor children, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13.

The ongoing dispute between Schwarzenegger and Shriver also involves the matter of covering legal fees, with Shriver asking Schwarzenegger to bear the costs, while Schwarzenegger insists on each party being responsible for their respective lawyers’ expenses.

With no prenuptial agreement in place at the time of their 25-year marriage, California law dictates an equal division of all assets and earnings amassed during the relationship.

The couple’s net worth is estimated to be around $400 million, leading to a complex legal battle over property settlement and financial allocation.

Despite the significant wealth involved, Shriver is reported to be investing a substantial portion, approximately $10 million, in a lavish residence located merely three miles away from their previous shared home.

Schwarzenegger, amidst the turmoil resulting from his past controversies, is striving to mend his relationship with his children, especially in light of the love child scandal that rocked their family dynamics.

His son Patrick had publicly distanced himself by adopting his mother’s last name on social media, reflecting the strain within the family.

While Schwarzenegger may be facing challenges in reconnecting with his children, he recently spent quality time with his daughter Christina, who celebrated her 20th birthday on July 8.

Despite the rift caused by his actions, his eldest daughter Katherine has shown signs of forgiveness and healing, expressing gratitude for the support received during the difficult period.

Acknowledging the complexities of his personal life, Schwarzenegger has also extended gestures of reconciliation towards his love child, Joseph, born to his former housekeeper Mildred Baena.

Reports suggest that Joseph visited Schwarzenegger at his Brentwood estate, indicating a tentative step towards rebuilding familial ties and fostering a sense of unity amidst past discord.
