Brooke Shields Opens Up About s**ual Assault Encounter 30 Years Ago: Unveiling Anger

In a candid revelation, Brooke Shields discloses her struggle to come to terms with a distressing incident of s**ual assault that occurred three decades ago, perpetrated by a prominent figure in Hollywood.

The renowned supermodel bared her soul to People magazine as she prepares for the premiere of her upcoming documentary, “Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby,” set to air on Hulu next month.

Reflecting on why she remained silent about the assault for so long, Shields expressed her fear of not being believed, given the disbelief surrounding such stories at the time.

She feared losing opportunities in the industry, stating, “I thought I would never work again.” The documentary will delve into Shields’ journey to stardom, highlighting her portrayal of provocative roles in movies like Pretty Baby, where she depicted a young prostitute, and The Blue Lagoon, which stirred controversy due to its exploration of adolescent sensuality.

Recalling her past ordeals, the actress remarked, “Reviewing it all in the documentary, it’s a wonder I survived.”

Addressing the impact of the assault on her, Shields emphasized the prolonged period it took her to process the trauma.

She conveyed a heightened sense of anger now compared to her emotional state back then, emphasizing the intimidation and fear that lingered post-incident.

She added, “If you feel afraid, it’s justified.

Such situations are inherently terrifying, even without physical violence.”

Shields recounted the grim details of the assault, narrating how, following her graduation from Princeton University and during a career slump, she met with a Hollywood executive under the guise of discussing potential job prospects.

However, the encounter took a dark turn when he made unwanted advances and she found herself in a vulnerable position.

Despite feeling powerless, she blamed herself afterward, questioning her choices leading up to the event.

Describing her coping mechanism as a form of disassociation, she shared, “I resorted to disconnecting from reality as a survival tactic.

It became second nature to detach myself from the experience.”

Amidst the turmoil, Shields confided in her confidante and former security advisor, Gavin de Becker, about the traumatic incident.

Reflecting on Shields’ enduring self-criticism, de Becker expressed his sorrow at witnessing her internalized judgment.

He commended her courage in confronting the truth and integrating it into her narrative.

Encouraged by the support she received, Shields resolved to share her story publicly, aiming to offer solace to others grappling with similar experiences.

She stressed the importance of individual timelines in processing trauma and advocated for empowering women to speak their truths, fostering a sense of solidarity.

Shields concluded by asserting her resilience and unwavering determination, declaring, “Despite the obstacles, I persist unyieldingly, like a force of nature…defeat is not an option for me.”
