Elvis and Priscilla’s Near Encounter: A Forbidden Love Almost Unveiled

In her memoir from 1985, Priscilla Presley unveiled a secret from the past, revealing a close call with breaking her vow with Elvis Presley before their wedding night on New Year’s Eve in 1962.

Priscilla Beaulieu, later known as Priscilla Presley, first crossed paths with Elvis Presley in Germany back in 1959 when she was just 14 years old, while Elvis was 24.

Their encounter sparked a whirlwind romance, leading Priscilla to eventually move to Elvis’s Memphis estate, Graceland, as a teenager.

The couple tied the knot in 1967 and welcomed a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, into the world before parting ways in 1973.

Despite their deep connection, Priscilla always maintained that she and Elvis refrained from fully consummating their relationship until their official marriage.

However, in her memoir, “Elvis and Me,” she disclosed a pivotal moment on New Year’s Eve in 1962 when their restraint was put to the test.

Elvis had made a solemn promise to Priscilla not to engage in intimacy until they were lawfully wedded.

The initial attraction between them was undeniable, but Elvis insisted that Priscilla was too young for such relations at the time.

According to Priscilla, Elvis’s commitment to waiting until marriage to fully unite their love gave her hope for their future together.

Despite the physical distance between them, their frequent communications kept their bond strong.

After a prolonged period of anticipation, Elvis finally reunited with Priscilla during Christmas of 1962.

Over the New Year celebrations, their resolution to uphold their vow was nearly compromised.

At a private gathering at the Manhattan Club, Priscilla imbibed four screwdrivers in celebration of Elvis’s decision to have her stay at Graceland into the New Year.

However, the alcohol left her disoriented, prompting Elvis to escort her back to Graceland.

The evening took an unexpected turn as their passion intensified under the influence of alcohol, bringing them to the brink of breaking their promise.

Yet, in a moment of clarity, Elvis refrained, emphasizing the importance of making their union special rather than impulsive.

The following morning, Priscilla woke up with a hangover but no remorse.

Despite feeling ashamed and embarrassed, she was resolute in her determination to be with Elvis.

However, their path to happiness was laden with challenges, including disapproval from Priscilla’s family due to the age gap between her and Elvis.

Despite the obstacles, their long-distance love persisted as Priscilla returned to school after the winter break, unwilling to let go of their enduring romance.
