Jennifer Lawrence Rejects Hollywood Beauty Standards

At just 22, Jennifer Lawrence secured the lead role in the hit movie “Hunger Games,” marking her as a rising star in Hollywood.

However, Lawrence boldly states that she does not conform to the typical image of a Hollywood actress.

In an interview with Elle magazine for its December issue, Lawrence, clad in a figure-hugging white dress on the cover under the title “From Indie Star to Hunger Games Bombshell,” admits that she is labeled as overweight in the entertainment industry.

She humorously compares herself to Val Kilmer in a particular beach photo.

To embody the character of Katniss Everdeen, a young heroine fighting for survival in the movie, Lawrence underwent rigorous training, including correcting her running technique due to being pigeon-toed.

Despite the success of the film, Lawrence faced backlash for her curvier physique compared to the industry’s standards.

A New York Times critic remarked that her mature figure did not align with the character’s description, implying that she appeared too healthy.

Defiantly responding to critics in her Elle interview, Lawrence asserts that she refuses to starve herself for any role.

She emphasizes the importance of promoting a healthy body image, especially for young girls who may look up to characters like Katniss.

While other actresses like Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway underwent drastic physical transformations for specific roles, Lawrence maintains a more relaxed approach.

She jokes about her eating habits, claiming to consume food like a caveman and proudly declaring that she steers clear of anorexia rumors.

Discussing her relationship with fellow actor Nicholas Hoult, whom she met on the set of “X-Men,” Lawrence reveals their laid-back dynamic.

She shares light-hearted moments of indulging in snacks like Cheetos while watching sports together, highlighting their comfortable companionship and mutual sense of humor.

Lawrence describes Hoult as not only her boyfriend but also her closest confidant, emphasizing the deep bond they share.

Their easy camaraderie and shared laughter make him her favorite person to be around.

Elle’s upcoming December edition, featuring Lawrence’s candid revelations, will be available for readers on November 13th.
