Julia Roberts’ Stance on n^de Scenes in Hollywood Revealed

Renowned Hollywood icon Julia Roberts, with a career spanning over three decades, has steadfastly maintained her decision not to partake in n^de or t0pless scenes in movies.

In an exclusive interview with British Vogue released on January 11, the 56-year-old actress candidly opened up about her deliberate choice to refrain from exposing herself on screen, emphasizing that it is a personal decision she stands by.

In a light-hearted manner, Julia jokingly referred to her career as “G-rated,” highlighting her rare involvement in intimate or s**ually explicit scenes throughout her filmography.

Notably, despite portraying a s** worker named Vivian Ward in the iconic 1990 film “Pretty Woman,” opposite Richard Gere’s character Edward Lewis, the storyline did not feature any overtly sensual or explicit moments between the characters.

Although her role in the 2000 movie “Erin Brockovich” showcased a more revealing wardrobe, reflecting the attire of the real-life environmental activist, Julia was adamant about not allowing her clothing choices to overshadow the character’s essence.

She stressed the importance of maintaining authenticity in portraying characters, ensuring that every aspect, including attire, resonates with the character’s personality and not just for cinematic effect.

Even the director of “Erin Brockovich,” Steven Soderbergh, revealed that the real Erin Brockovich believed the film’s portrayal could have pushed the boundaries further in terms of wardrobe, indicating Julia’s commitment to staying true to the character’s identity while also respecting her own boundaries.

Despite her on-screen versatility, Julia expressed discomfort with scenes involving swimwear and affirmed her aversion to on-screen nudity.

Following the birth of her twins in 2004, she became even more resolute in her decision, stating that acting with clothes on is performance while stripping down is akin to a documentary, underscoring the intimate nature of such scenes.

Even when presented with a potentially intimate scene with Clive Owen in the 2012 film “Duplicity,” Julia opted for a more subdued approach, citing her role as a mother of three as a significant factor in her decision-making process.

Her reluctance towards explicit scenes underscores her commitment to maintaining a level of comfort and personal integrity in her professional endeavors, setting her apart in an industry often characterized by varying degrees of exposure and vulnerability.
