Malia Obama Still Awaited Payment from Harvey Weinstein for Internship

Malia Obama is yet to receive compensation from the disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein’s film company, as indicated in a roster compiled by the firm during its bankruptcy proceedings.

The eldest daughter of former US President Barack Obama served as an intern at the Weinstein Company last year, a position shared with several notable personalities including Robert De Niro, David Bowie, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Bay, Daniel Radcliffe, Seth Rogen, Heidi Klum, and Ryan Coogler.

Additionally, well-known collaborators of Weinstein like Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith were also mentioned in the list.

The exact sum owed to these individuals remains undisclosed; however, the company’s bankruptcy records outline liabilities ranging between $500 million to $1 billion, along with a comparable range for assets, as detailed in documents initially disclosed by The Blast website.

Malia, presently 19 years old, undertook her internship at the controversial company before allegations against Weinstein surfaced.

Her parents expressed their revulsion upon learning about the s**ual misconduct accusations directed at Weinstein.

Barack Obama stated, “Michelle and I have been appalled by the recent revelations involving Harvey Weinstein.

Any individual who degrades and belittles women in such a manner must be censured and held responsible, irrespective of affluence or influence.”

“We must commend the bravery of women who have stepped forward to recount these distressing experiences.

It is imperative for us to foster a culture that promotes decency and respect, empowering our girls and educating our boys to reduce the prevalence of such behavior in the future,” he continued.

Following her education at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, Malia engaged in a gap year before commencing her academic journey at the esteemed Harvard University in the United States.

Additionally, she partook in an internship at the US embassy in Madrid and embarked on a three-month sojourn through Bolivia and Peru.

Over 60 women have come forward with allegations of s**ual impropriety against Weinstein since reports by The New York Times and The New Yorker unveiled decades of purported s**ual harassment and assault in October.

Weinstein, recognized for producing renowned films such as “Shakespeare in Love,” “The English Patient,” and “The Artist,” refutes all the accusations levied against him.

Expelled from the Oscars and dismissed from the Weinstein Company, Weinstein has consistently refuted any claims of non-consensual encounters.

His spokesperson affirmed, “Any assertions of non-consensual interactions are categorically denied by Mr. Weinstein.

He has also clarified that there were never any reprisals taken against any women for rebuffing his advances,” in a statement provided to The Independent.
