Margot Robbie’s Stand Against Weight Loss Pressure for Tarzan

In the realm of Hollywood, actresses often face the expectation to shed pounds for their roles, but Margot Robbie took a different stance before filming The Legend of Tarzan.

The talented actress, renowned for her captivating presence in the film industry, chose to defy the norm and declined to adhere to a strict diet while shooting.

Her decision reflects her distinctive Australian spirit.

During an interview with Australia’s TV Week, Margot shared her unconventional reason for not succumbing to the pressure of losing weight – her desire to explore the vibrant pub culture in London, where she was residing for the first time.

Rather than conforming to the producers’ suggestion that she slim down for her character Jane, Margot stood firm in her belief that portraying a woman from the 19th century did not require a modern-day ideal body type attained through intense workout regimens.

She successfully convinced the film crew that authenticity mattered more than adhering to contemporary beauty standards.

In her view, a realistic depiction of a 19th-century woman like Jane would not be overly thin or excessively muscular.

Embracing her character’s historical context, Margot emphasized, “It’s the 19th century – if she’s got a bit of weight on her, it’s probably a good thing.

I’m not going to look thin just for the sake of it.”

Despite the industry’s conventional emphasis on physical appearance, Margot’s approach is refreshingly grounded.

She candidly shared her fondness for a local nightclub in Clapham, Infernos, known for its casual ambiance – a scene reminiscent of her Gold Coast roots.

When asked about being recognized during her outings, Margot humorously remarked, “Everyone looks a mess.

By the time I make it to Infernos, I look so revolting that nobody’s going to look twice.”

In contrast to Margot’s relaxed attitude towards her role preparation, her co-star Alexander Skarsgard faced a different challenge.

Portraying the muscular Tarzan required him to maintain peak physical condition throughout filming.

Skarsgard’s dedication to embodying the jungle warrior involved a rigorous diet regimen, consuming approximately 7000 calories daily, primarily consisting of chicken cutlets.

His commitment to the role meant adhering to strict dietary restrictions under the guidance of the film’s chef.

Following the demanding shoot, Skarsgard indulged in a well-deserved break, relishing his father’s home-cooked meals, which included decadent dishes like bone marrow, fried mozzarella, pasta, and red wine, marking a delightful contrast to his stringent on-set diet.
