Nicole Kidman has opened up about the challenging and distressing moments she faced while filming intimate scenes for the popular TV series, Big Little Lies.

Portraying the character of Celeste, an abuse victim, in the acclaimed HBO drama, the Oscar-winning actress delved into emotionally heavy sequences, including a depiction of her seemingly flawless husband raping her.

Reflecting on the intense filming process, Kidman expressed feelings of humiliation and devastation.

She vividly recalled the vulnerability of being draped in tattered attire, lying bare on the floor during breaks in filming.

Recalling a particularly demanding moment, she shared, “I was just lying there, basically n^ked in half-torn underwear, and Jean-Marc Vallée (the director) would come over and place a towel over me.

It was very hard.”

The impactful nature of these scenes extended beyond the set for the 50-year-old actress.

Kidman revealed how the emotional toll of the role seeped into her personal life, leaving her feeling unsettled and vulnerable even after filming had concluded.

Expressing the depth of her emotions, she admitted, “At times it felt dangerous and really upsetting, and I would go home afterwards and I would feel – I would keep on a very brave face at work and then I would go home and I didn’t realise how much it had penetrated me.”

Kidman also disclosed that her husband, Keith Urban, was deeply affected by witnessing the physical toll the role took on her.

Seeing her covered in profound bruises after filming left him distraught, yet supportive of her commitment to her craft.

Despite the challenges faced during the filming of such intense scenes, Kidman’s dedication to her profession and the art of storytelling shines through.
