PRINCE HARRY’S DISDAIN FOR ‘WOKE NONSENSE’ BEFORE MEGHAN MARKLE, AS REVEALED BY SCHOOLMATES

In a recent book by Tom Quinn titled “Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family,” a Kensington Palace staff member, well-acquainted with Meghan Markle, claimed that the former actress despised her role as a second-tier royal before leaving alongside Prince Harry.

Quinn pointed out the parallels between Markle and Princess Diana, emphasizing their shared rebellious spirit against the formality of the royal family.

The book delves into the upbringing of the British royals and its enduring impact on their lives through exclusive insights from palace personnel and insiders.

According to Quinn’s narrative, the palace insider depicted the 41-year-old Markle as a cheerful and optimistic individual who always felt in charge of her own path but found herself in an institution where she lacked influence.

The source revealed that Markle was captivated by the allure of global fame that came with being a princess but was dismayed by the stringent palace protocols and her subordinate status compared to Catherine Middleton.

Expecting to reside in Windsor Castle, Markle was surprised to be assigned Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace alongside Harry.

Markle, known for her role in the legal drama “Suits,” assumed the title of Duchess of Sussex upon her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

Six months after their wedding, it was disclosed that the couple would move to Frogmore Cottage, a gift from Queen Elizabeth II, transitioning from their former residence at Nottingham Cottage.

In a documentary featuring the couple, Markle recounted the modesty of Nottingham Cottage and how it differed from the grandeur associated with living on palace grounds.

The insider disclosed that Markle encountered a stark reality check upon joining the royal family, feeling constrained by the endless and seemingly purposeless royal obligations that dictated her actions and limited her autonomy.

Markle reportedly faced condescension from royal advisors due to her non-royal lineage, leading to her disillusionment with the institution’s restrictive nature.

Drawing comparisons to Princess Diana, Quinn highlighted Markle’s struggles with conforming to royal norms and dealing with media scrutiny while asserting her ambitions.

Following their decision to step back as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now reside in California with their children, carving out a new path away from the traditional constraints of royal life.
