Eddie Murphy has reportedly agreed to pay his ex-partner and Spice Girl, Melanie Brown, a monthly sum of US$35,000 (approximately £31,569) for the support of their 15-year-old daughter.
Mel B, as she is popularly known, welcomed their daughter, Angel Iris, in November 2007 during her relationship with the comedian.
Initially, Murphy had denied paternity, but subsequent paternity tests confirmed he was indeed the father.
As per the Daily Mail, court documents reveal that two years after Brown sought increased financial aid due to a shift in income, they reached a new child support agreement.
Formerly, Murphy had been providing Brown with US$25,000 (around £22,549) per month based on an arrangement settled in 2009.
The recent documents indicate that the comedian, who has 10 children with five different women, is considered an exceptionally high earner.
Reportedly, Brown will receive the revised payments retroactively starting from October 2022 until Angel reaches adulthood in 2025.
Additionally, Murphy has agreed to cover the legal fees amounting to US$10,000 for the former Spice Girl.
Nevertheless, the agreement stipulates that Brown is responsible for additional expenses such as health insurance and educational costs for Angel.
In her memoir released in 2018, Brown disclosed that Murphy had proposed to her in 2006 and even got a tattoo of her name on his thigh during their relationship.
However, she expressed confusion over Murphy’s initial denial of their daughter’s paternity until the tests confirmed he was the father.
In her book, “Brutally Honest,” Brown shared that they had intended to marry, but she returned to Leeds while pregnant with Angel due to dissatisfaction with Murphy’s lifestyle.
Murphy had previously cast doubt on his paternity, telling a reporter that he would await the results of a blood test before confirming the child’s parentage.
During an interview with Piers Morgan on his Life Stories program, Brown acknowledged mutual fault in their relationship, stating that Murphy regrets his actions and the public denial of paternity.
She reminisced about their plans for a future together and the deep love they once shared before things took a drastic turn.
In a heartwarming Christmas photo in 2018, Murphy posed with all his children for the first time, including Angel, showcasing a united family bond.
Apart from Angel, Murphy’s other children are Eric, Christian, Miles, Max Charles, Bria, Shayne Audra, Zola Ivy, Bella Zahra, and Izzy Oona.
On the other hand, Brown has two other children, Phoenix Chi Gulzar and Madison Brown Belafonte.
