Mel Gibson’s public fallout with the mother of his infant daughter took a disturbing turn recently with the emergence of a half-hour audio recording in which the actor is heard using racist and sexist language towards Oksana Grigorieva.

Reports suggest that there were allegations of physical abuse during the short-lived relationship between the 54-year-old Gibson and the 40-year-old Russian model/singer following his lengthy marriage.

The actor reportedly unleashed a barrage of offensive remarks, including racial slurs, during a heated exchange with his former partner.

While Gibson’s representative did not deny the authenticity of the recorded outburst, the actor himself has chosen to remain silent on the matter.

The couple, who began dating shortly after Gibson’s divorce from his wife of three decades, parted ways in April and are currently embroiled in a custody dispute over their daughter.

Grigorieva supposedly recorded the conversation out of fear for her safety following alleged threats made by Gibson.

In one particularly disturbing part of the audio, Gibson is heard threatening to set fire to the house and uses derogatory language towards Grigorieva.

The recording captures him making disparaging comments about her appearance and expressing vile sentiments about potential harm coming to her.

Civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson weighed in on the situation, highlighting Gibson’s recurring pattern of racist behavior as a significant character flaw.

According to Jackson, these latest racist remarks clearly indicate that society still grapples with issues of racism.

The Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP also issued a statement condemning Gibson’s offensive language, emphasizing that mere apologies are insufficient given his history of discrimination and bigotry.

The organization’s president criticized Gibson for perpetuating outdated and harmful stereotypes.

Prominent attorney Gloria Allred addressed the issue as well, denouncing Gibson’s reported remarks as deeply offensive and damaging, particularly in light of her own experiences as a s**ual assault survivor and advocate for victims.

This incident is not Gibson’s first brush with public criticism over his use of derogatory language.

In the past, he faced backlash from various groups, including the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, for making disparaging comments about homosexuals.

Additionally, his film projects have been scrutinized for their portrayal of marginalized communities, with accusations of anti-Semitic themes in works such as “Braveheart” and “The Passion of the Christ.”

Following a DUI arrest in 2006, during which he made anti-Jewish comments, Gibson publicly apologized for his behavior, acknowledging the hurtful nature of his words.

However, the incident had lasting repercussions on his career, which has since seen a decline in momentum.

Despite denying allegations of physical violence towards Grigorieva, both parties have taken legal action against each other by obtaining restraining orders amidst the ongoing custody battle.
