Renée Zellweger Reveals Pressure to Drink Before n^de Scenes in Early Career

Renée Zellweger, known for her role in NBC’s “The Thing About Pam,” recently shared her experiences of being urged to drink alcohol on set during the early days of her career.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Zellweger disclosed that film producers had requested her to consume wine before performing n^de scenes.

She recounted instances where producers expected her to undress quickly, offering her wine as an incentive.

However, Zellweger stood firm, expressing her need to make a phone call instead of succumbing to the pressure to drink.

Reflecting on her past, in 2001, Zellweger spoke out against n^dty in films.

During the production of “Jerry Maguire,” she halted filming when asked to appear t0pless, emphasizing that it was not aligned with the director’s vision.

The Oscar-winning actress emphasized that unless n^dty serves a significant purpose in the storyline, it often distracts viewers and reduces the moment to mere exposure.

Addressing misconceptions about a scene in the 2008 Western film “Appaloosa,” where fans believed she had gone fully nude, Zellweger clarified that careful camera angles and distance maintained her modesty, preserving the integrity of the sequence without actual nudity.

In her recent portrayal as convicted murderer Pam Hupp in “The Thing About Pam,” Zellweger’s physical transformation stirred conversations among audiences, marking her return to television following her acclaimed performance in “Judy” and Netflix’s “What/If.”

After taking a break from acting, Zellweger sought spontaneity and embraced unpredictability in her life, allowing room for creativity and unforeseen opportunities.

Filming “Judy” provided Zellweger with a rejuvenating experience akin to creating an independent film in college, where personal exploration and collaboration reign supreme.

“The Thing About Pam” is currently airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock, showcasing Zellweger’s versatile talent and captivating portrayal of complex characters.
