King Charles delighted well-wishers as he made his way back to his Norfolk estate this morning, only a day after returning to London for further cancer treatment.
Looking smart in a suit and tie, the 75-year-old monarch waved to the public who had gathered outside Buckingham Palace and along the Mall.
Queen Camilla was not present as he embarked on the 150-mile journey back to Sandringham, as she had public duties to attend to.
Last Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that the King had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer and had commenced outpatient treatment.
After undergoing his initial round of treatment last week, he traveled to Sandringham to recuperate.
On Sunday morning, he attended church with his wife, and yesterday morning, he returned to London for a second round of treatment.

Later this month, the King is expected to undergo further cancer treatment.
While Charles has postponed all public-facing duties, he continues to fulfill his stately obligations, such as reviewing daily state papers and holding weekly phone meetings with Rishi Sunak.
His first official engagement following his diagnosis will likely be an audience with the Prime Minister at Buckingham Palace next Wednesday, during parliamentary recess.
The Queen, who has been maintaining her royal diary of engagements, expressed last week that her husband was coping “extremely well under the circumstances.”
She also conveyed that the King was deeply moved by the overwhelming support he has received from the public.
