In the latest chapter of the royal saga, tensions appear to be escalating between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles.
Following Harry’s revealing interview with the BBC, which aired just a day after his legal bid for state-funded security was denied, Meghan Markle decided to take matters into her own hands.
She posted a family snapshot on Instagram that royal expert Ingrid Seward interprets as a carefully crafted message aimed at the king, coinciding with Prince Archie’s impending birthday.
The image itself, captured in black-and-white, showcases Harry walking lovingly with Archie, while little Princess Lilibet is playfully nestled on his shoulders.
They seem to be enjoying a casual stroll in what looks like their garden.
Seward commented to The Sun, remarking, “It’s like Meghan is trying to communicate something to her father-in-law. If it wasn’t intentional, it certainly came across that way. She’s essentially saying, ‘Look at your son and grandchildren — and yes, you are missing out on all this.’”
The implication of the post isn’t lost on observers.
In her remarks, Seward carries the sentiment further, criticizing the likely perception of the snapshot as a jab at the king.
“It’s hard to imagine they didn’t know how it might be interpreted as a dig at Harry’s father,” she added, suggesting that this was no mere coincidence.
During that revealing BBC interview, Harry expressed concern for his father’s well-being, saying, “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has; he won’t speak to me because of this security issue. It would be nice to mend things.”
Seward noted that this assertion hints at a troubling thought—suggesting Charles might not see his grandchildren again.
Yet, she pointed out, Harry seems to overlook the fact that his children do have another grandfather.
Interestingly, the timing of Markle’s post wasn’t without its critics.
According to a source quoted by the Daily Mail, the image was perceived as a “giant f*** you” directed at the royal family.
The insider acknowledged, “The Duchess of Sussex knows all about the power of an image—just like the royals do.” Some royal watchers even accused Markle of overshadowing Princess Charlotte‘s birthday festivities, as well as diverting attention from the significant 80th anniversary of VE Day.
But it seems Meghan isn’t the only one attempting to communicate indirectly.
King Charles, too, has taken steps that hint at his side of the family drama.
Just a few days after Harry’s interview and Markle’s post, Charles unveiled his official coronation portrait on May 6.
Reports suggest this act was a strategic move designed to reaffirm his commitment to the crown and show that he’s more focused on his royal duties than squabbles with family.
Additionally, during the recent VE Day celebrations, Charles’s appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony was interpreted as another effort to convey royal unity amidst the ongoing narrative stirred by Harry’s revelations
