Prince Harry has already left the United Kingdom after a short visit with his father, King Charles III, who has been diagnosed with cancer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex was seen boarding a plane at London’s Heathrow Airport on Wednesday, having spent less than an hour with his father the day before.
Meanwhile, Prince William, Harry’s estranged brother, resumed his royal responsibilities by hosting an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
On Tuesday afternoon, Harry had a quick visit with Charles at Clarence House, as reported by Page Six.
Earlier in the day, he had arrived in London and made his way to his father’s side without his wife, Meghan Markle.
Markle remained in California to care for their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, according to Page Six.
This decision was made after the announcement that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer.
The palace released a statement saying that during Charles’ recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was discovered, which was subsequently identified as a form of cancer.
As a result, Charles has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties while undergoing regular treatments.
However, he will continue to carry out state business and official paperwork as usual.
After Harry’s visit, Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, were seen leaving Clarence House in good spirits.
This meeting between father and son is the first formal gathering they’ve had since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
Despite the strained relationship between Harry and Charles following Harry and Meghan’s resignation from their royal roles in 2020 and their subsequent criticism of the monarchy, Charles is eager to reconcile with his son.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl stated that Charles has always kept the door open for Harry, regardless of what he has written about him.
In his memoir, “Spare,” Harry publicly criticized his father and brother, William.
However, Harry did attend Charles’ coronation in May 2023 without Markle, although his stay was brief.
The couple also recently had a phone call with the king on his 75th birthday.
While it remains uncertain whether Charles is ready to forgive and forget, it appears that progress is being made in repairing their relationship.
